The Role of the Curator in Conditions of Contemporary Czech Art

The bachelor thesis seeks to clarify the role of a curator of contemporary art in the context czech art scene. To achieve this objective the person of curator is set into the wide framework. Thesis starts with description of historical events which led to formation of this profession and influenced its evolution into the current form. The vital moment is division of a curator into two types in the second half of 20th century; a curator as employee of exhibitionary or collecting institution and an independent curator. This fact is crucial for the specification of exact responsibilities of a curator. It is this issue and also description of environment, where a curator currently operates, to which one of the chapters is dedicated. A place in the thesis is also given to the analysis of some factors, human and technical, which have a direct and also indirect influence on the work of a curator. The text is ended by a chapter about possibilities of education in the field of curating not only in the Czech Republic, but also abroad. Language and its Horizon in Czech Contemporary Art

This paper proposes to explore language as an expressing medium for contemporary czech artists. Many of them uses analogical creation ways as the experimental poets did in the sixties. First part of this paper focuses on terms of semilogy and post-structuralistic philosophy and their influence over expressions of artists from range of experimental poetry. It is going put the accent mainly on their art invetnions, that have impact untill today. From this experience, the endeavour of contemporary artists origins to determinate, or cross the borders of their own expressing abilities. Based on analysis of selected czech contemporary artworks, the second part of this paper will try to describe the search of horizont of language as an expressing medium for contemporary czech artists.
The contemporary Czech art on the domestic and the global art market

The goal of this thesis is to analyse trends of the contemporary Czech art on the domestic market and possibilities of the contemporary Czech artists to succeed on the international art market. The firts part of the thesis describes specific forms of contemporary art and their position on the art market. The main factors influencing contemporary art prices are mentioned. The next chapter is concentrated on trends of contemporary art in comparison with the other segments of the art market. The third chapter is focused on development of the contemporary art on the domestic market. It analyses the present situation on the Czech art market and explores the potential of the contemporary Czech art. The last part of the thesis evaluates a success rate of the contemporary Czech art on the global art market.
